Golf & Country Club Tour of America

Golf & Country Club Tour of America

Golf is one of the most popular sports in the entire world — and it’s SYLTBAR founder Claus’s favorite sport to play too !

Claus’s golf history

He started to play golf in 1972 in Hamburg, Germany. Because of his talent in the sport, he traveled all over the world representing his country in the 1980s. At this time, Claus was the number one German amateur player.

He is grateful to have moved to Miami since 2010, and was finally able to become a Golf Professional in June 2021 at the age of 60, while playing on the Treasure Coast Senior Tour. That is one of the beautiful things about living in the US: Nothing in impossible, and age is only a number.

Claus became a friend of 2002 Hall of Fame Golfer, Bernhard Langer, who resides in Boca Raton and is the Senior GOAT in Golf (Greatest Of All Time). Bernhard and Claus competed against each other for the first time at the German Open in 1981.

SYLTBAR has supported Langer’s charity, Youth for Christ, since 2012 (see below picture) and also donates a bottle of SYLTBAR Mr Big each year. Claus also met Jack Nicklaus in Miami so he could taste a bottle of Mr SYLTBAR (see picture). In 2021, Claus fulfilled one of his goals to finally play a round of Golf at Medinah Country Club close to Chicago where the Ryder Cup miracle of Medinah happened in 2012 (see below picture). This is one of the best golf courses in the US, as per Claus’s experience.

Here are Claus’s top 3 favorite golf courses in Florida, the USA and in the world:

  • Florida: Grandon Golf Key Biscayne, The Bears Club Palm Beach, Trump Doral Silver Course
  • USA: Augusta National, Pebble Beach, Medinah Country Club
  • The World: Royal Rabat Dar Es Salam (Morocco), Bali Handara Country Club (Bali), Hamburg Falkenstein (Germany)

What city has the best golf clubs in Florida?

If there is one thing that goes hand in hand with a beautiful golf course in a resort or country club atmosphere, it’s a cool, crisp, refreshing bubbly drink. That’s precisely why Mr and Mrs SYLTBAR have found their way into many golf and country clubs all over the country.

Since many golf and country clubs are typically held in high regard as more sophisticated and elegant destinations, Mr Premium Prosecco and Mrs Sparkling Rosé fit in perfectly!

Here are some of our favorite golf and country clubs in America. Let’s start off with our favorites in Florida, SYLBAR’s founding home state, where year round sunshine makes it the perfect place to tee off.

In Jupiter, you will find Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club, a private club on the Intracoastal with three championship golf courses that have golf programs tailored for both competitive and non-competitive players, as well as the Trump National Golf Club, home to the 7,531-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Design 18-hole golf course with five tee places so that players of all skill sets can feel comfortable on the green. Claus has played this golf course many times and judges it as one of the best ones he has ever played in Florida. SYLTBAR has been a part of the Club’s wine list for more than 10 years.

La Playa Beach & Golf Resort is located in Naples, and is part of the Noble House Group, one of our favorite SYLTBAR customers. In 2022 alone, it was named the #1 Best Resort in Naples by U.S. News & World Report and received a spot in the Top 12 Resorts in Florida from the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. Also in Naples are the private communities, Quail West Golf & Country Club and Cypress Woods Golf & Country Club.

At Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, you will find Florida Golf Magazine’s #1 rated golf course in the state of Florida. It’s also been named one of the 50 Best New Golf Clubs built in the United States by Golf Digest, included in Golf Magazine’s Top 100 in the Country, and awarded the Six Star Diamond Award for “The Best Golf Course in Florida” from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.

Claus agrees with this 100% because he was invited to play there many times. Aside from the challenging course, it is wonderful to know that everyone who plays there can enjoy Mr SYLTBAR as a refreshing beverage after the round of golf in the luxury clubhouse.

Best golf and country clubs

While we do love Florida’s golf courses and country clubs, we also enjoy traveling to other states all over the country. Mr and Mrs love to travel and see new places as well.

For our midwesterners, another one of our favorite states to visit for golf and country club lifestyle is Illinois. Despite it not being golf-weather all year like it is in most parts of Florida, the warmer summer months are a beautiful time to visit these SYLTBAR customers.

In Glencoe, there is the private Lake Shore Country Club that sits on 127 acres along Lake Michigan with its beautiful and historic Howard Van Doren Shaw-designed Clubhouse. Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park was founded in 1896 as Illinois’s third golf course and the private, full-service club is only about 28 miles north of Chicago.

With a one-of-a-kind golf course handcrafted by famed golf architect Donald Ross, Evanston Golf Club in Skokie is also a great place to participate in tournaments, casual games and social events.

Here are a few more of our Illinois golf and country club recommendations:

If you happen to find yourself in Hawaii, we recommend visiting Maui Country Club in Paia on the North Shore. In Colorado Springs, we like Cheyenne Mountain Country Club, where a view of the mountains while out on the golf course never gets old. In Austin, Texas, Austin Country Club is a 122-year-old private club — one of the oldest in Texas — and was once home to one of golf’s greatest legends, Harvey Penick.

We would love to hear about your favorite golf courses and country clubs in the country. If Mr and Mrs aren’t already available, maybe if we work together, we can help get them there! Reach out to us at atyourservice@syltbar.com with your golf and country club suggestions and let’s work some SYLTBAR magic!
